How much does a B&B website cost in Ireland?

Updated · 6 min read

The short answer

On prices published on 18 October 2026, a small B&B website costs about €100 to €300 a year on a do-it-yourself builder, from €799 + VAT for a low-cost agency package, and €1,500 to €7,000 for a small-business site by one Irish agency's estimate, before the domain, hosting and upkeep.

Why quotes vary so much

Ask three people what a website costs and you will get three different answers, because they are pricing different things. One quote covers the design only. Another includes the first year of hosting and the domain, then charges for them every year after. A third is a monthly subscription that never ends.

To compare like with like, split the cost into its parts: building the site, the words and photos, any translations, the booking system, the domain, hosting, upkeep and VAT. The figures below are those published on each company’s own site on 18 October 2026. Prices change often, so check the page before you decide.

Building the site

Do-it-yourself builders. You pay a subscription and build the site yourself, with templates.

  • WordPress.com marks its prices “excl. taxes”: Personal 4 a month, Premium 8 and Business 25 when billed yearly, or 9, 18 and 40 when billed monthly. The version of the page we could open showed these figures in US dollars; check the currency at checkout. Annual plans include a free domain for the first year.
  • GoDaddy (Irish site) lists its Website Builder “as low as €8.49” a month on an annual term. The page does not give the renewal price or say whether VAT is included.
  • Wix sets prices by location, and the versions of the Wix and Squarespace pricing pages we could open showed US dollars, so we do not quote a euro figure here. Wix notes that tax depends on your billing address and that the final price appears at checkout.

So a builder costs roughly €100 to €300 a year before VAT, plus your own time. The time is the real cost: writing, choosing photos and setting up the booking button usually take longer than expected.

Irish web designers who publish prices. Most agencies quote on request, and we have not guessed at those. Among those that publish figures:

  • Nua lists an affordable WordPress package at €799 + VAT, or €699 + VAT paid in advance: up to 15 pages, with the first year of hosting, email and domain included. Hosting then renews at €79 + VAT a year. Copywriting, booking integrations and ongoing maintenance are extra. Its small-business page also lists a Professional package at €1,499, without saying whether VAT is included.
  • VIMAR, an agency in Portlaoise, publishes estimated ranges for the Irish market rather than its own prices: a basic brochure site €300 to €1,500, a small business website €1,500 to €7,000, a freelancer typically €500 to €5,000 and an agency €2,000 to €50,000 or more. It does not say whether these include VAT.

Words and photos

Good photos and clear text do more for bookings than any design. Most packages assume you supply both: Nua lists copywriting as an extra, and many builders leave you with a template to fill. If you need new photography or someone to write your pages, ask for a separate price before you sign. None of the pages we opened publish a price for photography.

Translations

If many of your guests come from France, Germany or Italy, a page in their language helps. Translation is rarely included in a package and is usually charged per language or per word. Ask who translates, whether a native speaker checks it, and who updates each language when your prices change.

The booking engine

A booking engine lets guests choose dates and pay on your site. It is a separate subscription from your website, and its costs range from free with paid extras to a monthly fee or a commission per booking. Our guide to booking engines for small B&Bs compares the options and their published prices. Check that your web designer connects the one you choose, as Nua, for example, charges for booking integrations.

Your domain

A .ie address is cheap to register and costs more to renew, so look at the renewal price.

  • Blacknight: €5.99 for the first year, then €36.99 a year, excluding VAT.
  • LetsHost: €3.49 for the first year, excluding VAT; the page says the offer does not apply to renewals and gives no renewal price.
  • EuroDNS: €39.90 for the first year, then €54.00 a year, excluding VAT.

Whoever registers it, the domain should be in your name.

Hosting

Hosting keeps your site online. Builders include it in the subscription. If your site is built by a designer, it is either included in a yearly fee or bought separately:

  • Blacknight shared hosting (Mega plan): €5.99 a month billed monthly, plus a €5.99 activation fee, or €65.89 for a year, excluding VAT.
  • Web60 (Maynooth): €60 a year, excluding VAT.

Maintenance and security updates

A WordPress site needs regular updates to its software and plugins, or it becomes slow and easy to hack. Builders handle this for you. For a WordPress site, care plans published in Ireland include:

  • SmartHost: WordPress Essentials €29.99 a month, excluding VAT, with weekly plugin updates and 28 days of backups.
  • Nua: care packages “start at €29.90 per month excluding VAT”.
  • Greenberry (Meath), for sites it did not build: €40, €50 or €60 a month, plus a €199 onboarding fee; the page does not say whether VAT is included.

Over five years, upkeep can cost more than the build. Count it from the start.

VAT

Irish web design and hosting prices are usually shown excluding VAT. Revenue lists the standard rate at 23%, and electronic services are charged at the standard rate. So €799 + VAT is €982.77 in total. If you are not registered for VAT, that 23% is a real cost; if you are, ask your accountant what you can reclaim.

Grants

The Trading Online Voucher, which used to pay towards new websites, has closed. Its replacement, the Grow Digital Voucher, does not fund a custom-built website. It can fund off-the-shelf software such as an online booking system, and you must apply before you buy. See our Grow Digital Voucher guide for the details.

Questions to ask before you pay anyone

  1. Who owns the site once it is paid for: the design, the text and the photos?
  2. Whose name is the domain registered in? It should be yours, with your login.
  3. Who hosts the site, where, and what does it cost after the first year?
  4. What does the monthly or yearly fee cover? Hosting, security updates, backups, small text changes?
  5. What is not included? Photos, copywriting, translations, booking integration, extra pages.
  6. Are prices shown with or without VAT?
  7. How do I leave? Is there a minimum term, and will you give me a full copy of the site and transfer the domain if I stop?

A clear written answer to each of these is worth more than a lower price.
